How does a company with 14 facilities in Florida and Georgia service wind turbine generators?
The rewind of a typical, utility-sized wind generator will typically take a month, including fabrication of new windings, or procuring new laminations for stator repair. If the turbine owner has access to spare generators, usually they can be installed with the same crane visit as for the removal of the failed generators, and the damaged generator can be repaired off critical path. If no spare units are available, our repair locations can be reached by standard carrier trucks in 2-3 days from anywhere in the continental U.S. No time is lost during the transportation, as preliminary redesign work can be undertaken, and new materials can be ordered, or production started. And the transportation usually represents a very small part of the cost of repairing a generator that is serious enough to come out of the turbine nacelle.
With a generator management program, TAW Wind will even maintain spare generators for our customers, assuring that major generator maintenance is NEVER performed on critical path of your outages.
